A little background --
After I graduated high school I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I knew that I didn't want to sit at a desk all day crunching numbers and selling people stuff they didn't need, but other than that I had no idea. Nonetheless, I ended up working at a plethora of different places including retail management, banking, real estate, and the list goes on. I eventually thought that I wanted to pursue a career in the culinary arts, and attended Le Cordon Bleu, receiving my AA. It wasn't until I was actually out and cooking in a real restaurant that I realized I had made a horrible mistake. It was nothing like I thought it would be, and though I still didn't know exactly how I wanted to provide for myself, I knew that working the line in a restaurant was definitely not it. Fast forward a couple years, and I stumble on a Youtube video of Steve Jobs giving a commencement speech at Stanford. He said something in that speech that made me drop what I was doing at the time and pursue a career in photography. What he said was this, "Your work is going to take up a large part of your life. And the only to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do what you believe is great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking - never settle. As with all matters of the heart, you will know when you find it." Those words hit me like a ton of bricks, and still do. Photography was always something I had been interested in, but I had never really considered it as a way to make a living. After doing some research I decided to follow my heart and pursue what it is that I love, and that is where I am today.
